Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 13, 2026

Greenback Game ("Greenback", "we", "us") runs a crowdsourced price network where players spot prices, share receipts, and compete on leaderboards. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Greenback you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address and any display name, avatar, or profile details you provide. If you sign in with a third-party provider (e.g. Google), we receive basic profile fields the provider shares with us.

Price spots and submissions

When you submit a price spot we collect the product, price, store, optional photos of the item and/or receipt, your notes, and the date of the spot. Receipt images may contain additional data printed by the retailer. We strongly recommend redacting any personal information (card numbers, loyalty IDs, names) before uploading.

Location data

With your permission, we use approximate or precise location to associate spots with a store, power "Near You" features, and credit you for local coverage. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings.

Device and usage data

We log standard server data such as IP address, user agent, referrer, and timestamps. We use first-party analytics to understand how features are used.

Communications

If you subscribe via the landing page or in-app prompts, we store your email, source, and the user agent / referrer of the subscribe event so we can send product updates.

2. How we use information

  • To run the game: scoring, leaderboards, battles, badges, and notifications.
  • To verify and moderate submissions and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse.
  • To improve product features, search, and matching of products across stores.
  • To produce aggregated pricing intelligence shared with partners (see Section 4).
  • To communicate with you about your account, security, and product updates.

3. What is public

Greenback is a community game. Your display name, avatar, spots, scores, badges, and leaderboard placement are public by default. Your email, precise location, raw device data, and account settings are not public.

4. Sharing and partners

We share information with: (a) service providers who run our infrastructure, auth, analytics, and email; (b) vendor and retail partners, in aggregated and de-identifiedform, as pricing intelligence; (c) law enforcement when required by valid legal process; (d) a successor in the event of a merger or acquisition. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data retention

We retain account data while your account is active and for a reasonable period after closure to satisfy legal, audit, and fraud-prevention needs. Public spots may remain part of the historical price record indefinitely, in de-identified form, after you delete your account.

6. Your rights and choices

  • Access, correct, or delete your account data — email us at privacy@greenbackgame.com.
  • Revoke location permission at the OS level at any time.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails via the link in any email we send.
  • Residents of California, the EU/EEA, UK, and other regions with data-protection laws may have additional rights (access, portability, objection, restriction). Contact us to exercise them.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encrypted transport (HTTPS), row-level database security, hashed credentials, and role-based access. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.

8. Children

Greenback is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International users

Greenback is operated from the United States. By using the service you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.

10. Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
